Known for his classic songs Sugar Man and I Wonder, Rodriguez spent years in the wilderness before the enthusiasms of people like David Holmes brought a whole new audience to his music.
The film Searching For Sugar Man, which won the BAFTA for Best Documentary 2013, and is Oscar-nominated, celebrates his extraordinary body of songwriting.
Following his sell-out string of shows at the Roundhouse, Royal Festival Hall and around the UK last autumn he returns to the UK for this special concert at the Hammersmith Apollo.
When the main set concluded to rapturous applause, Rodriguez stepped forward to the microphone and simply said: "You're welcome. It's been a pleasure and a privilege." Which is exactly the way we felt. I've never experienced anything like it at any gig I've ever been to.
