It is only fitting that The Downliners Sect should be featured for the Eel Pie Club's Twickenham Festival Night.  Very much part of the London Rhythm n Blues scene in the 1960s, The Downliners Sect started out in Twickenham, on  Eel Pie Island and then took over The Rolling Stones’ residency at Ken Colyer’s Club in London ’s West End .  In 2010 The Eel Pie Club was proud to host the launch of  their critically acclaimed CD, ‘Chinese Whispers’ with all but a few songs written by original Sect Members, Don Craine and Keith Grant.  The Downliners Sect  still attract crowds of thousands in Japan , Spain and Sweden , where their song, ‘Little Egypt’, reached No. 1 in the Hit Parade.  The Downliners Sect today are Don Craine (vocals/guitar), Keith Grant (vocals/bass), Del Dwyer (vocals/guitar), John O’Leary (vocals/harp), Mark Freeman (drums).  www.downlinersect.com
