EVENT INFORMATION
The Pretty Things are at the heart of Richmond rhythm n blues. These legendary ‘bad boys of rock’ created some of the most exciting and innovative records of the late sixties and early seventies. In 2011 they were awarded the Hero award at the Mojo Honours and the band have been name checked over the years by an array of artists ranging from The Clash, David Bowie and Aerosmith through to The Libertines and Kasabian. Original Pretty Thing, Phil May is on lead vocals, guitar and blues harp, Dick Taylor (original Pretty Things, also an original Rolling Stone) is on acoustic, slide and lead guitar, and Frank Holland on acoustic, slide guitar, backing vocals and harp. The Pretty Things’ first 3 singles 'Rosalyn', 'Don't Bring Me Down' and 'Honey I Need' all made the charts. The band then moved from rhythm n blues, through psychedelia, a rock opera, and heavy metal – and now again back to the music that made them famous - rhythm n blues.
The Eel Pie Club is proud to be involved in The Pretty Things 50th Anniversary tour, as the band continues its evolution as an enduring musical force.
Opening by singer/songwriter and pioneer of New Blues Music - Stephen Dale Petit
