In this world premiere concert, Bach's Cello Suites are reinvented by young British composer Peter Gregson, with Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson joining to play excerpts from his highly-praised album Johann Sebastian Bach. Electronic artist Clark will also be debuting a specially-arranged Bach-inspired composition. This performance is the finale of Deutsche Grammophon's 120th anniversary Recomposed series, which sees contemporary composers and DJs reinventing classical works, and which recently saw huge success when Max Richter's Vivaldi Recomposed took the classical world by storm. Bach Evolution is also one of the headline events of the Royal Albert Hall's 2019 Love Classical season, which celebrates some of the most distinctive and original voices in classical music today.
