mono and indiefrente are united by a common language, a flourishing space for nonconformity and deep understanding of the importance to create a safe space to meet in these fragile times. 

based on this perspective we invite you to mono on the 3rd and 4th of november starting at 19h30 to experience two immersive days exploring the threads between sound, space, movement & ecology.

"concert with seeds”

synopsis

monoaural or mono concert, in a reproduction system where all the sound is transmitted through a single audio channel; made from the repertoire of the “dança de materiais iertes” collection by the artists marta cerqueira and simão costa.

this mono channel index, indicates and announces sound vibrations by contact with a stretched membrane with 2.40 meters in diameter. it will be in the center and it is the middle.

propagation medium and visualization of the physical patterns produced by the interaction of sound waves.

the piece explores the possibility of meeting, with physical distance and a desire for social proximity; here and today, gathered to see the invisible sound.

kora concert

born in guinea-bissau, mestre galissá grew with a kora. "djidiu" is his street name, kora, his 22-string instrument. 

galissá defends the mandinga musical culture in portugal and has participated in cultural activities in several countries.

he was composer of the national ballet of guinea-bissau, instrumental responsible for the mini national ballet and kora teacher at the josé carlos schwarz national school of music for 11 years.

coming from a family of "djidius" (hereditary musicians),  galissá was born in 1964 in gabú in eastern guinea-bissau, capital of the ancient empire of gabú (where the name comes from), successor to the old empire of mali. he has music in his blood and has always been an artist.

he has lived in Lisbon since 1998, a city where he has embraced new forms of music and met musicians from other cultures.

the music for mestre galissá began in childhood within his family. He started learning kora at the age of 5 with his father's hand in the native region (gabú) and in mid-1979 he started his career, first with the pioneers "abel djassi”.

kora involves mysticism and symbolism. It is the instrument that accompanies him in the shows and is the main support of the musical genre he interprets.

This event follows all DGS rules.
